Q. Why the number of dark-winged or melanized moth increased after industrialization?

Answer: Actually predators will spot a moth against a contrasting background. So during post industrialization period, the tree trunks became dark due to industrial smoke. Under these conditions, the white winged moths were eaten by predator but dark-winged or melanised moth survived. Before industrialisation, white coloured lichen covered the trees and the white winged moth survived in that background but dark winged moth were picked up by predators.

Q.Why lichens are used as industrial pollution indicator?

Q. How anthropogenic action provides evidence for evolution?
Or
How resistant varieties provide evidence for evolution?

Answer: Excess use of herbicides pesticides etc has only resulted in selection of resistance varieties in a much lesser time scale. This is also true for microbes against which we employ antibiotics or drugs against Eukaryotic organisms or cell.
Hence resistant varieties or resistant cells are appearing in a time scale months or years.
These are examples of evolution by anthropogenic action.
