Answer: M. Hamel’s views about the French language was that it was the most beautiful language in the world. It was also the clearest and the most logical language.
Q. Give a brief description of peacock Island?
Answer: The peacock island was located in the foreground of John Rowntru’s bugalow on the bank of the Brahmaputra. It was with the dome of a Hindu temple just visible through the trees. The author never discovered peacocks but only monkeys on the island.
Q. What does Rowntru state about the dividing channel between peacock island and the mainland?
Answer: John Rowntru states that people had a belief that if the dividing channel between peacock island and thr mainland ever dried up completely it would mean the end of the British raj in India.

Answer: Derry was pessimistic about his life with his burned face on the other hand Derry was impressed by Mr lamb told him things which no other people told him. He raised a Roy of hope in Derry’s life which he thought was quite spoiled. So, Derry was back to Mr. Lamb in the end.
Q. Why weren’t there any curtains at the windows of Mr. Lamb’s house?
Answer: Mr. Lamb did not like contains. He did not like shutting things out and shutting in. He liked the light and the darkness. He liked the windows open to hear the wind. So, there were no curtains at the windows of Mr. Lamb’s house.
Q. How did Mr. Lamb lose his leg?
Answer: Mr. Lamb loses one of his legs in a war. His one leg was blown off. He had a tin leg.
